The University of Miami Department of Community Service (DOCS) is a student-led, student-run nonprofit organization that organizes health fairs that are run by students and practicing physicians across South Florida to provide free health screening services for underserved populations. The Liberty City Health Fair will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Holmes Elementary School from 9am-3pm (registration closes at 2pm) . We offer cholesterol screening, glucose screening, female and male exams, and numerous other medical services free of charge (no co pay regardless of insurance status) to the residents of Liberty City.

  • Vision and Glaucoma Screening

  • Colon Cancer Screening

*For GLUCOSE TESTS or CHOLESTEROL TESTS, Please DO NOT eat or drink anything besides water and your medications for 8 hours before the fair.

Since many of the common medical conditions leading to significant morbidity afflict this community, we screen hundreds of patients in an attempt to detect any potential abnormalities and plug these patients into a permanent health care system in which they may receive continued care.  We screen for conditions including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, vision loss, depression, obesity, osteoporosis, breast cancer, skin cancers, and other dermatologic problems.  Participants with potential problems are referred to local health care centers for follow-up care. We are also providing a free hot lunch, bag of fresh produce, toys and books to all of the patients that go through the fair.
