Why It Matters

HealthConnect is more than a health program—it’s a commitment to health equity, safety, and academic success. By integrating health services into the school environment, we:

  • Support mental wellness
  • Improve chronic condition management
  • Promote healthy behaviors
  • Ensure every child is ready to learn

Parental Consent: Your Role in School Health Services

To ensure your child receives the best care at school, parental consent is required for many services each school year. Follow all instructions given by your school’s health provider to give consent for your child to receive these services.

Your consent is necessary for your child to receive safe, effective, and beneficial care.

HealthConnect in Our Schools delivers a tiered model of care designed from data gathered across Miami-Dade schools. This model provides varying levels of staffing and health services—such as nursing, mental health, and social work—based on each school’s needs. Telehealth and mobile units expand access and improve service delivery.

The model is jointly developed and fully supported by The Children’s Trust, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools—aligned in their commitment to student health and well-being.
