13TH Annual Children of the Lotus Retreat

“WE ARE ONE” ## Dreamcatchers for the Soul Brings a Powerful Day of Healing, Culture, Rhythm, and Connection to Miami Something powerful is coming to Miami. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Dreamcatchers for the Soul Foundation, Inc. will transform Miami Dade College North Campus into a vibrant cultural healing experience during the 13th Annual Children of the Lotus Retreat. This is more than an event. This is more than a retreat. This is a movement rooted in healing, culture, community, and connection. This year’s theme, *Root Chakra – Community Grounded: “We Are One,”* was created to remind children, teens, families, and the community that no one has to carry life alone and that healing happens together. From the moment families arrive, they will step into an immersive experience filled with rhythm, movement, creativity, wellness, and love. Live African drumming, vibrant Junkanoo dancers, Salsa, and Afro-Caribbean cultural performances will fill the space with energy, celebration, and connection, creating an atmosphere that feeds both the spirit and the soul. Throughout the day, children, teens, and parents will participate in healing-centered workshops and experiences designed to strengthen emotional wellness, communication, confidence, resilience, and community connection. Families will experience mindfulness, creative expression through art, poetry, and storytelling, conflict resolution tools, grounding activities, and opportunities to simply feel seen, heard, and valued. Younger children will participate in hands-on gardening and grounding experiences that reconnect them to nature and self. Teens will have dedicated spaces to express themselves honestly, build meaningful connections, and show up authentically without fear of judgment. Parents and caregivers will also have space to receive through our Healing Room experience featuring massage therapy, Reiki, and sound bowl healing because when we heal families, we help heal communities. One of the most powerful moments of the day will take place during our closing Rites of Passage ceremony, where participants will be paired with someone they have never met before and exchange red lotus bracelets symbolizing unity, healing, growth, and shared humanity. In that moment, strangers become reflections of one another. At a time when so many children and families are silently carrying stress, grief, anxiety, trauma, and emotional burdens they do not always know how to process, Children of the Lotus creates something rare: a space where people can exhale, reconnect, celebrate culture, experience joy, and begin healing from the inside out. For more than 12 years, Dreamcatchers for the Soul Foundation, Inc. has created healing-centered spaces serving thousands of children and families throughout South Florida.
