Nelson Hincapie joined The Children's Trust Board in July 2011. The president and CEO of the Voices For Children Foundation, Mr. Hincapie brings significant experience in the political arena, non-profit fundraising, and a commitment to public service. Mr. Hincapie launched his government career as a member of Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas' team, which led the successful statewide campaign for Universal Pre-K, and later served as Central Florida coordinator for Mayor Penelas’s campaign for U.S. Senate. He has served, too, as an aide and also the liaison with community-based organizations for then Miami-Dade County Commissioner Carlos A. Gimenez. Most recently, he was the director of Development for Children’s Home Society. Mr. Hincapie currently serves as the chair of the Community Based Organization Advisory Committee, created by Miami-Dade County Commissioners; and as a member of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission for Miami-Dade County and on the board of the Colombian American Coalition.
