Congressman and Iconic Civil Rights Activist John Lewis Speaks with Miami Students

Congressman John Lewis, joined by co-author Andrew Aydin and artist Nate Powell, took to the stage to discuss their award-winning graphic novel trilogy March at a free event.

The event at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, hosted by Friends of Miami-Dade Public Library and sponsored by The Children’s Trust, The Children’s Movement of Florida, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, HistoryMiami Museum and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, delivered the experience of a lifetime to more than 1,200 students and hundreds more members of the general public, as Congressman Lewis shared his personal recollections of the civil rights movement and speaking on the steps of the nation’s capital alongside Martin Luther King Jr.
