The Children’s Trust Contributes $500,000 to United Way of Miami-Dade’s Coronavirus Pandemic Response Fund

Operation Helping Hands will assist with rent, food, medication and more

Miami, FL – Continuing its focus to help all families and children in Miami-Dade County affected by the coronavirus pandemic, The Children’s Trust is contributing $500,000 to United Way of Miami-Dade’s new Miami Pandemic Response Fund, part of Operation Helping Hands. The funding collaborative was set up to immediately help struggling families with emergency needs including food, rent/mortgage assistance, medication and other essential services.

The challenges facing the community with the arrival of the pandemic crisis have been unprecedented. Without a large-scale response from community leaders, the results will be catastrophic. Working families, low-income neighborhoods and children are likely to be the hardest hit, but The Children’s Trust, United Way of Miami-Dade and other funders will do their part to take on any and all challenges faced. “Since the coronavirus pandemic has come to Miami-Dade County, the need for help has spread to all aspects of our lives: from food and shelter insecurity, to lack of medicine and other essential services,” said Trust CEO and President James R. Haj. “The Children’s Trust knows that by joining forces with United Way of Miami-Dade and contributing $500,000 to their Operation Helping Hands we will provide immediate and critical assistance to those who need it most.”

The Children’s Trust continues its commitment to children and families in Miami-Dade County by financially supporting approximately 200 Trust-funded providers who serve our community at 1,500 sites, as well as instituting a variety of new initiatives to confront the coronavirus pandemic.
