David Turino is a lifelong resident of Miami-Dade County, where he has attended its public schools since pre-K; today he is a junior at the School for Advanced Studies, a nationally recognized collegiate high school of excellence. He currently serves as Miami-Dade Public Schools’ District SGA vice president, a position that affords him his seat on The Children’s Trust board of directors, and is involved in several school clubs and activities. Turino also serves as chairperson of the Town of Miami Lakes Youth Center council. The center, also known as the “Spot,” is a recreational hub that provides activities, field trips and volunteering opportunities to the community’s youth. In addition, he is secretary of the Town of Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force (YATF), whose members plan, coordinate and manage many of Miami Lakes’ youth-oriented events. A volunteer for various youth-related causes including hospital emergency room assistant, after-school teacher assistant and summer camp youth counselor, Turino is a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. His other interests include exercise, nutrition, basketball, jogging, travel and music.
