From The Miami Herald

For the fourth year in a row, The Children's Trust has provided funding for out-of-school programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.

This year's financial contribution of $394,186 will help fund year-round after-school and summer programs. The amount has been divided into two separate awards: $342,157 for the Hank Kline, Northwest, Kendall and South Beach facilities and a separate grant in the amount of $52,029 for the South Beach Club, which is located in a targeted Community Redevelopment Area.

The after-school programs provide children with homework assistance, computer training, educational assessment, arts and crafts, cultural activities, social recreation and sports recreation opportunities for children.

The summer programs include a similar curriculum, excluding the homework assistance, and also includes a talent show and educational field trip opportunities.

''The support of The Children's Trust enables us to serve hundreds of children in our community,'' said Alex Rodriguez-Roig, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. ``Without this support, it would be impossible to provide quality programs to so many children.''
