Stories About UsChildren's Trust Family Expo to Feature Performing Arts Centers, Fun For AllPublished Wednesday, May 27, 2009From examiner.com The Children’s Trust 2009 Family Expo will host its third annual, free, all-day festival on May 30th to provide parents with direct access to educational, health and social services in a fun and festive atmosphere. It will feature performing arts centers as part of its entertainment, which serves a fun way to introduce parents to these great organizations. These performing arts centers are partly funded by the Children’s Trust and offer scholarships for summer camp and after-school classes. The PlayGround Theatre, The Roxy Theatre Group, Inc. and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony are among those scheduled to perform. The Children’s Trust Family Expo, sponsored by Target, will take place at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center, 10901 Coral Way, on Saturday, May 30th from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. My family attended one year and there are plenty of activities for kids as well as friendly staff manning the booths of the organizations funded by the Children’s Trust. In these tough economic times, the Children’s Trust Family Expo serves as lifeline for parents to find about resources in their communities. I have seen first hand what marvelous programs the Children’s Trust provides funds for while improving the lives of the children in its programs. The Children’s Trust funding of arts organizations gives children a chance to enjoy activities that they would otherwise not be able to participate in. The Children’s Trust is expanding to accommodate the growing attendance, expected to reach 30,000 this year. The Children’s Trust Family Expo will now take place in both exhibit halls. It will feature workshops and more than 200 exhibitors showcasing information about summer and after-school programs, injury prevention, vaccinations, programs for children with special needs, Pre-K registration, KidCare and much more. Each hall will have stages packed with entertainment, including face painting, balloon sculpture and magicians. Character greetings, a highlight of the expo, will include Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora, Diego and PBS Kids’ Clifford the Big Red Dog, Arthur, Alpha Pit and others. A special reading corner will feature storytelling and free books to take home. Below is the rundown of the scheduled performances. |
