Preliminary Auditions Scheduled for Saturday, October 16th
WHAT: Young Talent Big Dreams, the most widespread local youth talent contest in Miami-Dade history, will hold preliminary auditions for kids between the ages of 8 -17. Participants will compete for prizes ranging from performing arts scholarships and cash awards to tickets to local attractions and theatres. The contest will feature a total of eight categories including individual song, dance, spoken word and musical instrument, and group categories of song, dance, musical groups and instrumental groups. Participation is free of charge and limited to residents of Miami-Dade County. Parental consent is required. WHO: Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre and presenting sponsor, The Children's Trust WHEN: Saturday, October 16, 2010, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. WHERE: Florida International University, Biscayne Bay Campus - Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre DETAILS: Young Talent Big Dreams will hold six preliminary auditions in diverse locations throughout Miami-Dade. Judges for the October 16th audition includes: Iris Acker, Actress/ Television Personality of "On Stage" with Iris Acker; Bill Doolin, Director of Florida Dance Association; Mariana Rodriguez, Entertainment Reporter of WSCV Telemundo 51. The semifinals and finals will be held during President's Day Weekend in February 2011. The subsequent audition will be at Florida International University, University Park Campus, Wertheim Center. Judges will vary at each audition. The semifinals and finals will be in front of a live audience at the Miracle Theatre. Participants may audition in one category as a solo act and one category in a group, and those who pre-register will be given priority audition times.
