Data Tracker Hands-On Training (9:00 AM)

Description:
The new training will be an instructor guided, hands-on training using laptop computers and a practice database. All necessary materials, laptops, etc. will be provided for the training. Since the course is hands-on, there are 12 spots available for each class. Each provider that registers for this training may bring up to 2 additional participants for a total of 3 per provider, per class.

To make a reservation for any Data Tracker training, simply send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and include the desired training date, the primary participant's name along with the names of up to 2 additional participants. An email will be sent within 24 hours (weekends and holidays excluded)to confirm the desired training date. If the desired training date is full, alternate training dates will be included in the email.

Almost all OOS programs require some level of academic activity that includes reading. This workshop will train you on how to use the One-Minute Oral Reading Fluency Measure. This measure can be used with all age groups, cultures, and ability levels. Children's Trust-funded programs use the One-Minute Oral Reading Fluency Measure so participation in this workshop is strongly encouraged.

Description:
Miami NICE helps small faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) and non-profit organizations acquire and develop skills and tools to increase their efficiency; improve their sustainability and effectiveness; and prepare them as collaborators. Miami NICE is funded as an intermediary agency through the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration of Children and Families. The CCF, created in 2002, is a key component of former President Bush's faith-based and community initiative. CCF helps FBCOs increase their effectiveness and enhance their ability to provide social services by building their organizational capacity.

Miami NICE is a unique public/private partnership comprised of the City of Miami, Office of Faith-based Initiatives and Community Outreach (lead agency/intermediary), The Children's Trust, Miami-Dade County, Center for Non-Profit Effectiveness (C-One), The Alliance for Human Services, Family and Children Faith Coalition, and the United Way of Miami-Dade.

Miami NICE will provide free training and technical assistance in the form of lectures, workshops and seminars open to any FBCOs that operate in Miami-Dade County or provide services to residents of Miami-Dade County.

Description:
Boys come in all sizes and shapes and have a variety of personalities, skills and challenges. However boys in our society and in families are more often treated and spoken to based on preconceived ideas about gender, race and culture specific expectations which limit their ability to develop socially and emotionally. Identifying individuals boy's skills, capabilities, strengths and temperaments early on will maximize his ability to learn, love and develop social skills.
The training will focus on:
1. Identify stereotypes that dwarf emotional, social and educational growth in boys as a result of being profiled by race, gender, culture, lifestyle and academic labeling.
2. Identify unmet services for boys affecting their well-being.
3. Empower parents/educator of boys to raise and teach them to be contributing members of society.
